November – Director’s Message – 2017

Hello again everyone,

And thank you once again for taking the time to read our newsletter.  This month I want to send out a big HUGE THANK YOU’S to two of our longest term and stanches supporters.  Both are dedicated to the vision of assisting youth to obtain skills for self-sufficiently.  They are Suncoast Federal Credit Union and Triad Foundation.  Both Suncoast FCU and Triad are long-term sponsors of CMG programs, going back for a period of 10 years or nearly 10 years each.  It is hard to understate how important supporters like these are to a non-profit organization.  They are literally the “life’s blood”, and without them, we would not survive.

The two sponsors are supporting our TeenTech High School Program or our KidsCode Program.  The programs are successfully running across the county from the Brandon Recreation Center to the east, South Shore Regional Library to the south, The Skills Center to the north, and of course, our main facility on MLK Blvd.  CMG has also connected with Tampa Bay STEM Network, run by Larry Plank, Director of STEM Education for Hillsborough County Public Schools, and are hoping to develop relationships with !p (Innovation Place – formerly Tampa Innovation Alliance) and the TechHire group at USF and Workforce Tampa.  All of these partners and potential partners are growing Tampa Bay technology ecosystem that all of us can play an important role.  We see our role as a company that develops youth to have an initial interest in technology as a career, that can then go on to serve the community as entrepreneurs and employees.  Thank you to all of our great sponsors for helping to make that a reality.

And, while mentioning sponsors, don’t forget that 2018 Teen Business Challenge is just around the corner and sponsorships are available.  The event will once again occur at Hillsborough Community College Ybor campus in the Ybor Building.  The dates are February 16th through February 18th.  For more information about sponsorships, see our website.  Registration for youth to participate will also be on the website and begin December 1.

Thank you all,

Ralph Smith
