Congratulations to Our First MTA Certificate Recipient!

Computer Mentors and West University Charter High School partnered in October 2016 to provide the TeenTech program to interested students on Wednesday mornings.  Since the partnership began, four students have certified in Microsoft Office products and have earned IBM Thinkpad laptop computers – to keep!
TeenTech, previously known as STEM Corps, has undergone a transformation this year.  In addition to offering Microsoft Office Certifications, as of January 1st we began offering Microsoft Technology Associate Certifications.  This allows students to pursue a broader scope of Information Technology skills, such as experience in Software Development in C#, HTML5 Web Application Fundamentals, Networking, Security, Server, Windows, and Database.

On March 1st, Luis Rodriguez from West University Charter High School became our first Microsoft Technology Associate!  He certified in HTML5 Web Application Fundamentals, which is an industry-recognized credential that demonstrates proficiency in application development skills.  “I am trying to aim for making games using Unity, which is a software program. In the future, I’m planning on becoming a game developer,” says Luis.  He aspires to design and create video games and plans to pursue Software Development in C# as his next certification at TeenTech.
Luis has never missed a day of TeenTech.  He shows up to every class always prepared to learn, takes notes, and applies his learning outside the classroom. We believe that Luis will be successful in any technical career he pursues.  He has plenty of support – all of his teachers at West University and Computer Mentors are very proud of him!

Luis achieved the HTML5 Web Application Certification, which also awards college credit! Congratulations!
