July 2016 Student Highlight

David NunezOur highlight student of the month is David Nunez.  David is actually a former CMG STEM Corps High School Program student.  David graduated from Middleton High in the spring of 2015.  He is now enrolled at Hillsborough Community College where he is pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering.   David hopes to receive an associate’s degree from HCC and then move on the USF to receive a bachelor’s degree.  Currently David serves as an intern for two organizations, Computer Mentors and Safe & Sound Hillsborough (SSH).  In his internship position David manages the SSH website under the direction of Freddy Barton, and also directs a team of youth at Computer Mentors to oversee the website’s development while providing training to the youth.

David hopes to one day own his own business and travel the world.  When asked what he most enjoyed about being a student at Computer Mentors he said he like “The feeling of positivity. Not just from the mentors but from the work I was doing. I enjoyed knowing that I wasn’t wasting my time, I was doing something positive for myself.”  We are proud that David sharing what he learned with the next set of students so that they too might follow in his footprints.
