July 2016 Directors Message

Thank you all again for taking the time to read our newsletter.  We appreciate your time and the support, and the many wonderful follow-ups that result.  We are very encouraged with new developments and appreciate being able to communicate them to you.

I’m not sure whether you are aware, but Computer Mentors is now in its 19th year of service to the community.  To have been able to have existed for these many years has always meant that we have been able to garner great public support.  This month I want to highlight one of those great supporters, Wells Fargo.  Wells Fargo has been providing the support and resources since 2011.  Without this support, and the support from others, we would not be able to have the impact that the organization does.  Wells Fargo support has been generally targeted toward what traditionally has been our main program, the STEM Corps High School Program.  Thank you Wells Fargo and company for your continued support.

Also I want to mention that currently we have about 50 youth are active in four (4) different locations throughout Hillsborough County in the STEM Corps High School Program.  Besides training to launch into an Information Technology career, this summer each student also has the opportunity to visit one of our technology partners on a field trip.  The field trips are being hosted each Friday and include awesome opportunities to understand what a career in technology might look like.  This year are field trip partners include BMC Software, GTE Financial, Nitro Mobile Solutions, ReliaQuest, Tampa Bay Community Network (TBCN), and USF College of Education.  Many of these are back due to popular demand from previous year and all have demonstrated a different segment of technology careers.  Thank you partners for these opportunities.

Best regards,

Ralph Smith
